The National Seismological Network recorded 413 earthquakes within the nation between March 1 and September 8, the Ministry of Earth Sciences mentioned on Tuesday.
The NSN is maintained by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) to detect and find earthquakes in and across the nation, the ministry mentioned in response to a query in Rajya Sabha.
“A complete of 413 earthquakes have been recorded by NSN throughout March 1, 2020 to September 8, 2020,” it mentioned.
According to the ministry, 135 out of the 413 earthquakes have been of magnitude 3.zero or decrease that are “often not felt”.
As many as 153 earthquakes have been between 3.zero and three.9 magnitude. These are are “minor” and “felt by many individuals” however there may be “no injury”, the ministry mentioned.
A complete of 114 earthquakes have been between 4.zero and 4.9 magnitude. An earthquake on this class is “felt in a big space” and there may be “minor breakage of objects”, it mentioned.
Only 11 earthquakes have been within the vary of 5.zero to five.7 magnitude. This class is called “average” and there may be “some injury to weak buildings”, it mentioned.
