Reminding personal tv channels about provisions of the programme code to not broadcast something defamatory or slanderous towards a person or sure teams, the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued an advisory on Friday.
The advisory stated the ministry has issued varied advisories previously “to non-public satellite tv for pc TV channels to broadcast content material strictly adhering to the Programme and Advertising Codes as prescribed underneath the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995” and guidelines framed underneath it.
It drew the eye of the personal TV channels to guidelines 6(1)(d) and 6(1)(i) of the Programme Code. It stated that “the next provisions of the Programme Code which give that no programme ought to comprise” content material together with “something obscene, defamatory, deliberate, false and suggestive innuendoes and half truths” or “criticises, maligns or slander any particular person in individual or sure teams, segments of social, public and ethical lifetime of the nation”.
