Facebook on Friday stated it’s investigating the blocking of former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar’s web page on the social media platform.

“We’ve restored Ms Meira Kumar’s Facebook web page that was unpublished. We remorse the inconvenience brought about and are investigating the problem,” a Facebook spokesperson stated.

In a tweet on Thursday, Kumar stated the blocking of the web page was an ‘damage to democracy’.

Tweeting in Hindi, she stated, “Facebook web page block kiya gaya! Aakhir kyu? Loktantra par aaghaat! Ye mahaz sanyog nahi ho sakta ki Bihar Vidhan Sabha chunaav se pehle Facebook mere web page ko block karta hai!” (Facebook web page has been blocked! But why? Injury to democracy! This can’t be mere coincidence that Facebook blocked my web page forward of Bihar Assembly elections).”

In one other tweet, she stated after a lot protest, her Facebook web page had been unblocked.
