Neela Satyanarayan, Maharashtra’s first lady chief election commissioner and celebrated creator, poet, succumbed to Covid-19 in Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai on Thursday. She was aged 72.

She is the primary IAS officer within the state to succumb to Covid-19.

She had penned a number of books, was a 1972 batch IAS officer, and in addition composed music for some movies. After retirement, she was appointed because the state’s Chief Election Commissioner.
