Pakistani troops engaged in heavy firing and shelling on ahead areas and posts alongside the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday in violation of a ceasefire settlement, officers mentioned.
Indian Army personnel retaliated to the Pakistani hearth within the Mankote sector befittingly, they mentioned.
A defence spokesperson mentioned, “At about 0515 hours at this time, Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling mortars alongside LoC in Mankote sector in district Poonch.”
Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire for 18 occasions this month.
On Thursday, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was injured in Pakistani shelling within the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district.
On October 1, an Army jawan was killed and one other injured when the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire alongside the LoC within the Krishnagati space of Poonch district, officers mentioned.
An Army personnel was killed and two others, together with an officer, have been injured on September 5 when Pakistani troops opened heavy hearth and shelled the Line of Control within the Sunderbani sector, officers mentioned.
On September 2, a JCO was killed within the ceasefire violation by the Pakistan Army alongside the LoC in Keri sector of Rajouri.
