Punjab nod to 33% ladies quota in state civil companies

The Amarinder Singh authorities on Wednesday authorized 33 per cent reservation for ladies in direct recruitment for the Punjab civil companies, boards and companies. The state Cabinet, at a gathering presided by CM Amarinder Singh, authorized the ‘Punjab Civil Services (Reservation of Posts for Women) Rules, 2020’ to offer such reservation for ladies for direct recruitment to posts in authorities, in addition to in Boards and Corporations in Group A, B, C and D posts, an official spokesperson stated.

The state had offered 33 per cent reservation for ladies in panchayats and native our bodies. The Cabinet additionally gave its nod to a Bill to switch the ‘Punjab State Vigilance Commission Ordinance, 2020’. It can be launched within the subsequent Assembly session.

The institution of the multi-member Commission, aimed toward bringing in additional transparency and verify corruption amongst public servants, was authorized by the Cabinet final month by means of the ordinance, an official spokesperson stated. The Cabinet cleared the decks for the state to launch its personal SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme.
