Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has written to the Centre demanding a ban on the published of the movie Muhammad: The Messenger of God on digital platforms following a grievance by a city-based organisation on this regard.
Deshmukh has sought the ban on the movie underneath the Information Technology Act to make sure the regulation and order state of affairs isn’t affected within the state, stated an official assertion issued on Wednesday.
The organisation, Raza Academy, had submitted the grievance to the state’s cyber cell, searching for a ban on the movies broadcast on digital platforms, it stated.
Thestatement doesn’t specify particulars of the Academy’s grievance.
Following this, Deshmukh wrote a letter to the central authorities searching for a ban on the movies broadcast underneath the provisions of the IT Act to make sure the regulation and order state of affairs isn’t affected within the state, the assertion stated.
The movie is to be broadcast on July 21, it stated.
The residence minister has demanded that directions be issued to forestall broadcast of the movie on digital platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp amongst others.
