Four policemen, together with an inspector, of the Surat Police have been suspended on Monday over their alleged position within the suicide of a co-operative chief within the metropolis.

Surat police commissioner Ajaykumar Tomar issued the order suspending inspector Laxmansinh Boadana and constables Kiransinh Parmar, Ajay Bopala and Vijay Shinde.

Durlabhbhai Patel (74), a resident of Suryapur Society in Adajan, allegedly died by suicide at a lake in Jalaram quarry, at Khanjroli village in Mandvi taluka on September 8. In a notice he left for his son, Patel talked about names of 5 individuals who have been chargeable for his dying.

Durlabhbhai’s son Dharmesh lodged a criticism in opposition to 10 individuals, together with 5 talked about within the suicide notice, with Mandvi police. Police registered an offence of 306 (abetment of suicide), 506 (2) (risk) and 114, and began probe.

Tomar had arrange an inquiry by Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone – 4, Panna Momaiya, to probe the position of police within the alleged suicide. “We have discovered that these policemen had carried out mischief they usually have been suspended. The inquiry is on.”
