Three members of an inter-state gang of robbers have been arrested in reference to the murders of cricket Suresh Raina’s kin, mentioned Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh as he declared the case “solved”.
Eleven different accused are but to be arrested, DGP Dinkar Gupta mentioned.
Raina’s uncle Ashok Kumar, a contractor, had died on the spot, whereas his son Kaushal Kumar succumbed to accidents on August 31 throughout a theft bid at their Pathankot house. Kumar’s spouse Asha Rani is in hospital in important situation and two others injured within the assault had been discharged.
Soon after the incident, the chief minister had ordered the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) underneath IGP Border Range Amritsar, with SSP Pathankot, SP Investigation and DSP Dhar Kalan as its members, to analyze the case completely and expeditiously.
More than 100 suspected individuals have been examined throughout the investigation, in accordance with DGP Gupta.
On September 15, the SIT obtained data that three suspects, who have been seen on the Defence Road on the morning after the incident, have been staying in jhuggis close to the Pathankot Railway Station. A raid was performed and all three have been nabbed. A gold ring bearing the initials AK, a gold chain, Rs 1530 in money, and two wodden sticks, presumbly used within the assault, have been recovered from them. The accused have been recognized as Sawan, alias Matching, Muhobbat, and Shahrukh Khan, all residents of Chirawa and Pilani jhuggis in Rajasthan.
Initial probe revealed that they have been working as a gang together with others and had dedicated comparable crimes earlier in Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and varied elements of Punjab.
On the evening Raina’s household was attacked, at round 7-Eight pm, the gang moved in teams of two or 3, as per their modus operandi, and reached a delegated spot in an open area. After the robbers did not land something substantial within the first two areas they’d targetted, they entered Ashok Kumar’s house utilizing a ladder. When they noticed three individuals mendacity on mats, the suspects hit them on the top earlier than transferring by the home, attacking others and escaping with money and gold ornaments, the DGP mentioned.
The accused then escaped in teams of twos and threes to achieve the railway station. After distributing the money and jewelry amongst themselves, they dispersed.
