IOA president Narinder Batra requested Secretary General Rajeev Mehta for clarification on questions he had raised about funds made in August 2019.

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Narinder Batra mentioned that he will not be getting concerned in any monetary selections till there may be “full readability and transparency.” In a letter to IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta, Batra mentioned that he needs clarification on questions he had raised about funds made in August 2019.
“Regarding cost to make of Ethics Commission. In August 2019, You (Secretary General), Treasurer and Chair Finance Committee arbitrarily eliminated my identify from the approval notes of cost after I as IOA President objected/questioned to some funds concerning incomplete/uncertain payments,” mentioned Batra within the letter dated July 13.
“I later made it clear to you that I can’t (be) signing of IOA Balance Sheet/Accounts of IOA from 01.04.2019 to 31.03.2020 since you together with Treasurer and Finance Committee determined to not make clear to me on the questioned/uncertain payments for appxx (approx) Rs 31.00 lacs.
“Hence till I’m in full clarification on monetary issues of IOA and particularly concerning uncertain payments of August 2019 on which I sought clarification, I can’t get entangled in monetary selections on IOA till there may be full readability and transparency.”
Batra was replying to a letter despatched to him by Mehta during which the latter mentioned that the IOA must finalise the phrases of cost to members of its Ethics Commission. The pair have been at loggerheads over the previous few weeks over the Batra’s dealing with of the Ethics fee, amongst different points.
Mehta had earlier described Batra’s resolution to dissolve the Ethics Commission as unlawful. On May 19 this 12 months, Batra had introduced his resolution to dissolve the Ethics Commission.
After Mehta’s questioning, Batra had clarified that beneath the IOA structure, he has the authority to nominate or take away members of a fee.
